Question by : What are the differences between the original NES and the NES top loader?
I am looking in to getting a NES but I don’t know which one to get. What are the differences in the two models? Also which one do you recommend? And in case it matters I am mainly getting it for the Dragon Warrior RPG game.

The original NES has RCA audio/video output and RF output. The toploader only has RF output with no RCA outputs. The original NES has a small red power light while the toploader has no power light. The toploader has the better cartridge connector design on the inside that provides more reliability and ease of use when putting in and taking out cartridges. The toploader is smaller than the original NES but there were complaints of poor video quality usually from black lines in the screen image. The toploader can play games from other regions like Europe and Japan that the original NES cannot. There were trade offs between the two but I guess it’s just a personal opinion of what you want.
